Marianne Walters

Walters, Sister Marianne, OSF

A member of the Sisters of St. Francis of the Providence of God for 80 years, died at the Motherhouse at the age of 96 on May 26, 2014. Born July 16, 1917, she was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers but survived by her sisters, Sister Frances Walters OSF, Anne Dombroski and Helen Sherry, as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Sister Marianne was an educator for 40 years, 22 of which she served as principal. She ministered in schools in Brazil for twelve years and spent three years as a missionary in Lithuania. In retirement she was an Archivist Assistant and only left this position due to failing eyesight last year.

Friends will be received at the Sisters of St. Francis of the Providence of God Motherhouse on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 from 2:00-7:00 PM with a wake service at 6:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, May 28, 11:00 AM in the Motherhouse chapel.
