Please keep the family and friends of John P. (Johnny) Gidel in your thoughts and prayers. Johnny was a life-long resident of Hazelwood and entered into rest Friday, February 23, 2024. Johnny was born August 15, 1952 to John T. Gidel and the late Doreen Badali Gidel.
Johnny graduated from Bishop Boyle High School, served in the US Army and was an Instructor at West Point. He also worked 33 years as a Construction Inspector for the City of Pittsburgh. He enjoyed Harley Davidson motorcycles, leather saddlery and the outdoors-fishing, camping, boating and hunting.
In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by two wives Lynn McMahon Gidel and Joanne Gazzo Gidel, and a niece Nicole Gidel.
He is survived by his father John T. Gidel, his sister Mary (Nick), his brother Kenny (Ronita), his sister, Betty (Gerry) and his Fiancé Jasmine. He was an uncle and great-uncle to many nieces and nephews and had countless friends. He surely will be missed by his Best Friend, Buddy a lab/chow mix.
Visitation with the family Wednesday 2 PM until 8 PM at the Vereb Funeral Home (formerly O’Connor’s) 5106 Second Avenue, 15207, 412-521-8116
A Blessing Service will be held at the Funeral Home Thursday morning at 10 AM. Interment will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
